BACFLASH!
1. Wednesday's rehearsal (TOMORROW) will be held at South Street Seaport. We will be using our customary dressing and warm up space in the vacant store located at the corner of Front and Beekman Streets, one block north of Fulton Street. Rehearsal begins at 6:30. Please bring your jacket & tear away. You can check the Seaport web site for travel directions via public transportation.
2. Next Monday's rehearsal (our FINAL rehearsal before heading for Indy) will be a FULL DRESS rehearsal. That means the ENTIRE Elvis outfit, plus whatever props you have been assigned!! We expect an enthusiastic audience (family, friends, fans, and well wishers). Following rehearsal, we will repair to Jackson Hole for libations, food, and more singing. Our audience should be in their seats by 8 PM....WE should be on the risers for warm ups and run throughs no later than 7 PM!
BACSTERS!
1. Hotel confirmations will be distributed on Wednesday and next Monday. Please check your confirmation carefully, making certain that both the arrival and departure dates are correct, and that you have the type of accommodation that you requested.
The BAC schedule in Indianapolis includes a rehearsal at 4 PM on Wednesday, July 5, and a rehearsal at 5 PM on Thursday, July 6. Bring your jackets, tear aways, and props to each of these rehearsals. The rehearsals will be held at the Hilton. Check the hotel information board for the exact location. Remember, we will likely be sharing rehearsal space with several other choruses, so it is important to be on time.
A BAC Breakfast is being planned for Thursday Morning, July 6. Please stay tuned for details, such as cost and location. This is always a fun event, and usually features some guest quartets. Not to be missed!!!
There will be an After Glow on Saturday Night. Cost is $10 for BAC members, $15 for guests. Several other choruses will be involved. Please look for a special note from Chair Jamie Patricia, giving all the details. Jamie will be collecting money on Wednesday, and again on Monday.
Please direct questions and specific issues to Glynn Fluitt.
3. As you read this, long time BACMAN DICK RUOT will be undergoing a heart "procedure". Hopefully, it will be only a minor one and Dick will be able to rejoin us in time to be on stage in Indy. Please keep Dick in your thoughts and prayers.
4. If you were absent last night, you must get to Wednesday's rehearsal early enough to get up to speed with the new opening move, new closing move, and several minor tweaks installed by Christine Oberc, who was in the house last night, and looking terrific after the birth of her baby boy.
Leads, especially, are encouraged to look at the "final" change of Elvis....Measure 24 - 26. Many were still not sure of the notes last night. Please come to Wednesday's rehearsal with this passage NAILED!
5. Great work last night by the entire chorus, especially our fabulous front row! Each iteration of the songs seemed to improve. There is a lot of exciting stuff going on, which may account for the more than usual amount of between song chatter on the risers. Again, we BEG you, please do not coach or correct your riser mate DURING rehearsal. Make a note, and then assist him during the break, or after rehearsal. Your individual comments about anything at this late date are inappropriate, inconsequential, distracting, and totally unnecessary. Please understand that the ONLY important stuff comes from Joe and whoever else is up front at that moment. You cannot possibly add anything to the proceedings. ARE WE CLEAR??
6. We must single out for laudatory comment returning BACMAN MICHAEL HO, who, in a matter of a couple of weeks, has not only mastered our contest set, but has become a stellar front row performer! A Tip of the BAC Topper also goes to our newest father-son combination, returning BACMAN PAUL SANTINO and son JOHN, making them our THIRD such combo (joining the Patricias and the Dantowitz's). Quite appropriate for Father's Day weekend!
7. Please remember to do a couple of mental run throughs of the entire contest package on a daily basis from now until we're off the stage in Indy. This visualization really does help to firmly seat everything in your mind, and get you to the stage where you can put all of the technical stuff on auto pilot and REALLY PERFORM for the audience.
Hey, ain't it G R E A T to be a BACMAN?????
