I never cease to be amazed with the talents of our music team and their ability to bring out the best in the BAC. This is never more obvious than riser placement, which was last night's first activity. Even standing out in right field, my tin ear could hear the difference in the sound as individuals were moved from place to place.
When I was a kid and we were choosing up sides for the neighborhood ball game, right field was always the last position filled, and I kept getting reminded of that last night as the process went on, but I got over it - standing any place and being part of the BAC is just plain wonderful! And we certainly did learn the first part of the chorus of Love Me Tender, the vehicle of choice for the process.
The second half of the evening was devoted to working over the choreo for the Elvis medley under the tutelage of Frank Hendricks, who has developed a second career as our resident school master; knows his subject like a book, is able to command the attention and respect of his students, and has the patience of a saint.
We now have a new way of reinforcing his work at home, thanks to some unknown (to me) soul who photographed a front line rehearsal, put both the front row and riser moves along with it, and put it up on the web site. Who was that masked man? Nice job!
If you haven't given your Indy travel info and credit card number to Jamie Patricia by this Thursday, you'll be on your own, because that's when it has to be turned in. He needs you travel dates to and from, room mate information, credit card number and expiration date. It's not true that the FBI already has this information, despite what you may think so get it to Jamie, please, if you haven't already done so. jamiep629@aol.com
A look at ticket chairman Andy Kelly's seating chart says we have our work cut out for us to fill the hall just three weeks from now. This will be a show worthy of being on Broadway, at one-third the price. It's not advertised to the public at large, other than by our mailing list, so the people responsible for filling the seats is us. Please do everything you can to help provide an audience that will make our efforts worth while.
If you go through the roster and note the number of people who are doing something to move the BAC forward, it's really very heartening. In most volunteer organizations, it's a very small portion of the people who do the work. In the BAC, it's about a third, which, to my mind, says that we have a lot of people who care enough to pitch in. It's always been my experience that I get a greater return in terms of satisfaction than the effort I put in. If you can help move things forward, we'd love to have your lend a hand.
