Big Apple Chorus rehearsals are always open to the public. Friends, family and visitors can often be found in the auditorium while the chorus runs through its paces. You never know what you might see! The chorus might be working on a new arrangment, choreography, vocal exercise or revisiting old repertoire. Whatever it is, it will be Big Apple style and a lot of fun!!!
Do You Want to Join Us?
It is always rewarding to the chorus when a guest and visitor decides to join the rank and file on the risers as a full fledged member. The chorus holds membership auditions throughout the year for men who would like the opportunity to perform with the Big Apple Chorus. (Ladies, we can point you to several outstanding women's organizations for the very same thrill!) Audition Requirements
Of course, many of the Big Apple Members can read music, but this is not a requirement. The chorus provides many learning tools for its members, including CDs with specific tracks for each voice part.
In order to audition for membership in the Big Apple Chorus, a guest must have attended 3 consecutive rehearsals and have been given an initial voice placement test by one of our Music Team members (just to see what your range is).
The audition process is a series of vocal and rhythm exercises primarily to determine your musical abilities. If you've gotten THIS far, we've probably already determined that you can carry tune and have a good ear for our style of harmony and singing.
